9:30 AM
Event Location:
Koonwarra Village School
Koonwarra Village School has an extensive kitchen garden program. Students spend time each week helping to maintain the organic garden beds and learning about seasonal food production, beginning with building healthy soil through to harvesting, preparing and sharing food. The kitchen garden team of mentors have varying levels of biodynamic knowledge and experience and have offered to host this introductory training day so their community can join them in learning more about the Australian Demeter Biodynamic method as we build a biodynamic compost heap together.
This field day is aimed at small growers and gardeners.
You will hear about plant feeding within nature, soil cultivation to improve soil structure, green manures, humus formation and microbial activity, biodynamic plant expression and use of the biodynamic sprays, including how to store, stir and apply the preps at the most beneficial time.
Time: 9.00am arrival for a 09.30am start, finish around 3.30pm. (Set aside the full day in order to meet the practical requirements for membership of BDGA.)
Food: Tea, coffee, morning tea and a light lunch will be provided.
BYO: work boots, wet weather gear (just in case) and a good garden fork for compost building!
Stirring and storage equipment will be demonstrated and available for sale on the day.
